Private fishing in Norway is very hard
to come by and we are lucky to be amongst the first to fish this
section of the famous River Orkla. Historically farmers own the
rights to small sections of the river, so getting a meaningful double
bank stretch on a top river is very unusual, especially on this
famed river.
The Orkla has a guaranteed flow thanks to the hydro dam at the
top of the river. So even last year which was incredibly hot and
dry in Norway, the Orkla still fished well when all the other rivers
struggled.
The recent figures for the beat are incomplete simply because the
last tenant hardly ever fished; even so the beat usually produces
200 fish for the season a figure I would hope to achieve this year.
A number of these fish are in the late twenties and thirties with
larger specimens not unusual. There is a fish counter 2 km below
our beat which recorded 8000+ fish last year and even last week
before the season opened fish of over thirty pounds were passing
the counter.
The beat offers double bank fishing and includes one of the best
holding pools on the river. There are three huts on the river bank,
one of which includes a couple of beds, barbecue and toilet. Remember
you can fish 24hrs/day in Norway, but a word of caution with so
much fishing time be wary of fishing too hard early in the week.
Pacing yourselves will produce more fish rather than burning yourself
out early doors.
Details of dates and prices, will appear here as soon as possible,
but please get in touch if you would like to register your interest.
