Although your fly fishing course is tailored specifically for you, the following is some of the typical elements covered within the course.
It's by no means exhaustive and in no way meant to be formal, we'll be out on the water doing all the fly fishing stuff, lots of talking, the sharing of knowledge & having some great fun at the same time:

- Drag free presentations
- Dry fly, wet fly & nymphing

- Match the hatch 'Entomology'

DOUBLE HANDED ROD
- Roll Cast
- Overhead Cast
- Single & Double Spey
- Snake Roll
- Underhand & Skagit style casting
- Casting Intermediate/Sunk lines
- Circle Spey
- Various fishing techniques

Using skills associated with double handed rods, weekday & weekend fly fishing courses are run in Cumbria on the river Eden, and Scotland on the Findhorn for early season and back end salmon.

Courses vary from 1 day fly fishing introductions to the more detailed 3 day residential courses.


The fly fishing courses can be taught at almost any location. A number of the casting techniques however are best suited to certain conditions and specific locations, these can be discussed & covered prior to the course.
